Launched in 2007 and based in Kingsteignton, a small town in England, Tree Fellas Devon acquired the Hinowa Lightlift 20.10 aerial platform to boost its operations and provide customers with better services. The company is specialised in garden maintenance.

The benefits of using the Hinowa Lightlift 20.10 platform

Before partnering with Hinowa, the company used ropes to carry out its work and allow operators access to the trees, but this meant less stability and the work took much longer to complete. Specific cherry picker models were only used when they needed to work under specific conditions. Using the Lightlift 20.10 has allowed Tree Fellas Devon to respond more rapidly to requests for assistance whilst maintaining a competitive price by cutting down on job times. The following are just some of the key benefits of using this machine:
  • High-quality of the construction materials (steel)
  • Excellent working height and extra-long reach (20.15 metres – 10 metres)
  • Same basket load capacity even at full reach (230 kg)

Benjamin Van Walsum, the company’s owner, highlighted the benefits of using the machine, commenting that, with the Hinowa platform, Tree Fellas Devon can now “take on challenging projects which other companies cannot. In one such case, a city council rejected plans put forward by another two tree companies to cut back a protected oak tree in a garden at the back because the pruning proposed was too drastic. Carrying out the work would have involved climbing the tree and it was unsafe to go any higher up the tree. Using the Hinowa platform, however, we would have been able to gain access via a narrow gateway leading to the tree and cut it back according to the council’s guidelines. So, our plan was approved.
Having this machine has meant we can also rent it out to other arboriculture companies and garden maintenance teams, thus providing us with an additional source of income.
Some of our customers, who like us are particularly focused on safety, get in touch because they know that we carry out the work with Hinowa […]”.

Types of garden maintenance work using the Lightlift 20.10

The high levels of safety and numerous machine functions have allowed the end customer to employ the aerial platform in a wide variety of applications, including:
  • Tree inspections and surveys
  • Tree felling
  • Tree pruning and reduction
Lastly, the significant working height reached by the machine has allowed the customer to take on a variety of jobs linked to the problem of ash dieback in the United Kingdom. This is a disease which kills the trees from highest part down.
