To reduce greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, Hinowa has implemented the
Carbon Footprint strategy designed to measure the environmental impact generated by actions, processes and products, in order to then adopt countermeasures to reduce and offset said “climate-changing” emissions.
To this end, a study was conducted by the
Inter-University Centre for Product Development and Sustainability – CESISP (
cesisp.unige.it/Centro) in Genoa, to measure the emission of CO
2 – the greenhouse gas most commonly produced – in the Hinowa production process starting from the year 2020.
Having quantified the CO
2 emissions produced,
Hinowa invested in a certified lagoon nature reserve situated 120 km from its headquarters, and to offset the CO
2 emissions produced, it acquired
carbon credits generated through CCS (
Carbon Capture and Storage) operations, obtaining certification for the cancellation of its CO
2 emissions offset by the “Valle Lagunare Rosolina” project.
Thanks to this investment,
sustainable environmental improvement projects can be undertaken with the aim of capturing more and more CO
2 and permanently storing greenhouse gases underground.
Green solutions for zero pollution: this is what Hinowa focuses on in its day-to-day activities (solar panels, efficient wastewater treatment systems for its factory, water-based paints and biodegradable oils), extending this “eco-friendly” approach also to its new bi-energy and fully electric aerial work platforms with lithium-ion batteries, strengthening this mission through the Carbon Footprint project.
