INTERMAT INNOVATION AWARDS 2018

An important acknowledgement for the Lightlift 33.17 Performance IIIS aerial platform

Hinowa S.p.A., manufacturer of aerial platforms, minidumpers, pallet trucks and tracked carriages with thirty years' experience, receives the Intermat 2018 Innovation Award in the lifting, handling and transport category with the new Lightlift 33.17 Performance IIIS tracked aerial platform. The award decision was taken by a jury of thirteen European specialists, who selected thirteen winners from the ninety products submitted. The ceremony for the 7th edition was celebrated on January 18, 2018 at the "Maison de la Mutualité", Paris. Among those participating in the lifting, handling and transport category were Etramo (Belgium), Manitou Group (France), Tadano Faun GmbH (Germany), EPC Groupe (France).

What are the features of the award-winning machine?

In particular, in reaching a working height of 32.6 metres, the new Lightlift 33.17 Performance IIIS is the highest in the Performance IIIS range. In addition, it has a horizontal reach of 16.5 metres and is extremely compact: the machine measures only 5.8 m in length without the basket and is only 1.2 metres wide (extendable up to 1.7 meters for greater stability when travelling on inclines). The new jib Performance with a rotation angle of ± 90 °, the rotation of the basket at ± 90 ° and the machine structure of 3 telescopic arms, called TB (tower boom / lower arm) + 2 telescopic arms, called MB (main boom / upper arm) + JIB arm allow you to easily get around obstacles at height. The basket load capacity 230 kg without restrictions, the basket is wider and more comfortable, providing operators with more space for movement and storage for the tools used at height. The stabilisation area is variable, measuring 4.6 x 5.1 meters (with total outreach) and 3.3 x 6.3 meters (with limited outreach). In a restricted stabilisation area, it allows 360° rotation for working with continuity and speed, with an outreach of 10.5 meters on the side. At a height of less than two metres, the machine can pass through normal industrial and civil entrances. Lastly, this machine allows operation at negative heights.

What are the new features introduced by this machine?

One of the new features introduced is the innovative Go Home function of the Lightlift 33.17 aerial platform, with automatic closing and boom alignment, which cuts down the re-entry time and eliminates any errors in this delicate work phase. This new model, therefore, delivers an outstanding performance despite its compact size.

What engines are available?

To meet the requirement of a large number of customers, the new Lightlift 33.17 comes with two different equipment options:

  • Kubota three-cylinder diesel engine
  • Electric system powered by lithium ion battery packs
This particular solution ensures zero emissions, low noise levels and environmental impact, meaning it can be operated in closed places or where there is normally poor air circulation.

What new production paths does this machine open up?

The Lightlift 33.17 Performance IIIS opens up a new path in terms of the development of tracked aerial platforms capable of reaching heights of over 30 metres and at the same time offers the possibility of working at negative heights. This is a path that Hinowa has embarked upon by carefully and meticulously redesigning and re-engineering its products and processes.
